Even before a pitch was thrown in 2024, the world realized that the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Atlanta Braves were the two best teams in MLB.
It’s easy to see why: the Dodgers added Shohei Ohtani, Yoshinobu Yamamoto, Tyler Glasnow and several other stars to an already elite core, and the Braves went out and acquired Chris Sale, Reynaldo Lopez, Jarred Kelenic and other contributors for their excellent roster.
Let’s put it this way: Atlanta won 104 games last year, and LA won 100.
Yet, both teams managed to get better.
The two National League powerhouses will open a huge three-game series on Friday, one that will help determine which of the two contenders is currently in the best shape.

As of Friday, the Dodgers are 20-13 and have a 4.5-game cushion in the NL West division, while the Braves own the best record in baseball at 20-9.
They both have incredible depth and undeniable quality at all levels and departments.
On Friday, Charlie Morton will face Gavin Stone.
Then, on Saturday, Bryce Elder will go against the formidable Glasnow, who has a 2.72 ERA with 53 strikeouts.
To finish the series, the Braves will send Max Fried and LA will reply with James Paxton.
Three impressive pitching duels, no doubt, but they will all be in charge of silencing a couple of historically great offenses.
It should be a fun weekend.
